Lot: 400

Sold for (£): Result to follow

Classic Car Auctions says:

54-years old, one former keeper, unrestored and only 15,995 miles...

  • HRH 888D was originally registered on 01/10/1966 to Harry Edwards in Hull
  • Harry had an interest in a Volvo dealership and, with other cars available, HRH was used sparingly
  • In 2005, after 39 years with Harry, our vendors's late husband inherited HRH
  • Of a similar mind, he continued the long held tradition of garaging, cleaning and very little use
  • History file lost in a house fire but retains its original tool kit, radio blank and a copy logbook
  • Quite possibly the lowest mileage, ownership and period-correct Volvo 121 to have been offered for sale in recent years
  • A remarkable find. The proverbial Silver Sixpence in the Christmas Pudding

Bodywork: Glass:
Paint: Chrome:

The Volvo Amazon ‘executive car' was manufactured between 1956 and 1970. Featuring strong articulation front and rear, with slight tail-fins - echoing the transatlantic styling ‘in-vogue' at the time, the Amazon's bodywork was constructed of phosphate-treated steel with heavy use of under-coating and anti-corrosive oil treatments.  The bodywork on HRH appears to be in very good original condition

Vehicle History

The car has been known since new. A devastating house fire in 2008 destroyed some of the history, but the DVLA and Volvo have helped correct this. See the summarised history in the photographs.
