Offered for sale is a 1.2L 1960 Volkswagen Beetle 1200 Deluxe manual that has been with the current owner for the last year. Coming with a partial history file, this lot's condition scores 85 / 135.

Pleasingly original Type 1 with its own Porsche Inspection Report...

  • This Type 1 was built on the 13/12/1960 and sold originally by Guerins of Portugal
  • It's a left-hand drive Deluxe saloon, fitted with the 1200 (1192cc, 40bhp) engine and a 4-speed box
  • All identity numbers (engine, gearbox and front axle) are correct for the 1961 model year
  • Repainted some time ago in its original colour of Turquoise (L380). Some fading and blending
  • Leatherette interior in Ice Blue/Green. Original factory protective covers remain over door panels
  • Ulra-rare period factory option of steering wheel, handbrake, gear lever finished in Hydrate Green
  • Imported in 2019 and now fully UK-registered. Recently recommissioned at a cost of £2,500
  • Heritage letter from Volkswagen period-correct owner's manual in English and the most comprehensive (and encouraging) 'Porsche inspections.com' condition report that you have ever seen on an old Beetle!

Older full repaint. Most panels have some blemishes, no structural corrosion Respray is a slightly different shade, some fading / blending.

Remarks

Very original.  Although it seems to have little equipment (no fuel gauge or radio), some very rare options are fitted - the steering wheel, handbrake, gear lever and grab handle are finished in Hydrate Green. Floor mats, running boards and wing beading are in turquoise. These options were only offered for a period of 7 months during late 60/early 61.
