Sir David bought the car in May 1988 when it was one year old and registered it to Myfanwy Talog, his long-standing partner before it was transferred to Sidney Law a few months later. Sidney was David's manager at the time. Some nine years elapsed when, in 1997, the car, still showing only nominal mileage, was passed on to John Williams. John was the godfather of David's children. While in John Williams' ownership the car was awarded 140/140 points in the VW Owners Club GTi concours event, testament to the resounding quality of this car and the care with which it had been treated. Ownership passed to one owner then our vendor.
